We Don't Die We Multiply: Siyagoduka Ka Spaceship Babez
Within ancient Egyptian mythology, the skin-sloughing process of snakes symbolises the transmigration of souls. Within Sub-Saharan African religious philosophies around reincarnation lies a scared belief that the souls of the remembered and noble are eternal and therefore reborn within multiple physical bodies for certain cosmic reasons. The work presented before you was born from a sculptural installation of a Sci-Fi character Lebo Mathosa (a reincarnation of the late South African musical legend).
